What is Rule 4 in horse racing?
When a horse is taken out late, winnings on the others are cut by a set amount, such as 15p in every pound won, because the race got easier.
In practice
Example: you have £10 at 4/1, and a well-fancied horse is withdrawn late, so a Rule 4 deduction of 15p in the pound applies. Your £40 winnings are cut by 15% to £34, so £44 comes back instead of £50. The shorter the price of the horse taken out, the bigger the deduction.
The Funteron way: fans should not need to know any of this to have a bet. Funteron is designed to show every bet in plain words and in money: what it costs, what comes back if it wins and what you lose if it does not.
