Questions about Funteron, answered.

64 straight answers for media brands, sports, fans, bookmakers and investors. If yours is not here, ask the team.

The basics

What Funteron is, and what it is not.

What is Funteron?

Funteron is redesigning sports betting so media brands and sports can give their fans sports participation experiences: following the action, free predictions and games and, for adults who want one, a simple bet with a licensed bookmaker. Think of it as the Intel Inside of sports participation. The fan never sees Funteron, but enjoys it in every moment. For the brand it works the way Stripe works for payments: one integration, with licensed bookmakers behind it. The brand keeps the customer, the control and the value. Funteron is a marketing and technology company, not a bookmaker.

Is Funteron a bookmaker?

No. Funteron sets no odds, holds no funds and accepts no bets. Every bet is placed with a licensed bookmaker, which holds the fan's account, the money and the bet. Funteron is the layer that connects the brand to those bookmakers.

How does Funteron make money?

Licensed bookmakers pay commission on the customers who join them through a Funteron partner, in the same way they pay any marketing partner. Funteron shares that commission with the media brand or sport. Fans pay Funteron nothing.

What does "Stripe for betting" mean?

Stripe gave businesses one simple way to take payments without dealing with every bank. Funteron does the same for betting: one integration gives a brand every licensed bookmaker in its market, with the prices, offers, accounts and bet placement handled behind the scenes.

Who is Funteron for?

Media brands, broadcasters, publishers, leagues, teams and sports apps that want to offer betting to their audience without becoming a bookmaker. Licensed bookmakers that want to reach recreational sports fans. And the fans themselves, who get a simpler way to have a bet.

Where is Funteron based?

Funteron Limited is registered in Northern Ireland (company number NI733224) with its registered office at Unit A4 Harbour Court, 5 Heron Road, Belfast BT3 9HB. The team works across the UK, Serbia and Ukraine.

Is Funteron live today?

Yes. Funteron built and runs ITV OddsFinder, ITV's betting companion for UK sports fans, which launched around Glorious Goodwood in 2026. Further partnerships with media brands and sports are agreed and in build.

Who is behind Funteron?

Funteron was founded by Keith O'Loughlin, its Chief Executive Officer, who led OpenBet's sportsbook and platforms business through the Endeavor deal and was earlier CEO of BoyleSports Online. Keith leads the team with Andy Hoskins (Chief Operating Officer), Misa Stojkovski (Chief Technology Officer), Aine Gleghorne (Chief Financial Officer), James McKay (Chief Product Officer) and Darren McGrath (Chief Marketing Officer), with senior experience from OpenBet, IMG ARENA, Gala Coral, BoyleSports, EY and Booking.com. You can see the team on the homepage.

For media brands and sports

How a partnership works, what it costs and what you get.

Why would a media brand or sport add betting?

A large share of sports fans have a bet now and then, and today they leave your app or site to do it. With Funteron they can stay with you. That keeps them in your brand for longer and gives you a share of the commission bookmakers pay, without the cost, risk and licensing of running a bookmaker yourself.

Do we need a gambling licence?

Funteron sets no odds, holds no funds and accepts no bets, so it does not operate as a bookmaker, and in Great Britain it holds no Gambling Commission licence because its legal advice is that none is needed. Every bet is placed with a bookmaker licensed in the fan's market. Some markets, including US states, ask marketing partners to hold an affiliate licence; Funteron handles that where it applies. Every partner should take its own advice too, and Funteron will share how its model works.

How do we integrate?

There are three routes. An API, where events, markets and prices feed straight into your own product, with Funteron's bet slip and "My bets" alongside. A widget, where ready-made Funteron components sit inside your app or site, styled to your brand. Or a managed app, a complete betting companion in your brand that Funteron builds and runs. You can start with one route and move to another later. See the technology page for the detail.

Which route is best?

The closer betting sits to your fans, the better it works. An API inside your own product changes nothing about the journey your fans already know, so it converts best. A widget adds a step. A separate app, even in your brand, asks fans to leave the product they already use. Funteron will recommend a route based on your product, your team and your audience.

How long does it take to go live?

Typically six weeks to three months, depending on the route and the markets you want to cover. A managed app or widget is usually quicker for a brand without its own engineering team. Adding a new bookmaker to the grid, the bookmakers a fan can choose from, takes two to four weeks once API access is granted.

What does it cost?

Partners earn a share of the commission bookmakers pay on the customers who join through their brand. The share depends on the route: the more of the work you take on, the larger your share. Terms are agreed partner by partner, so talk to the team about yours.

Whose brand does the fan see?

Yours. Every route is in your brand, with Funteron shown only as a small "Powered by Funteron" mark. The bookmakers appear as the places the fan can bet, on equal terms.

Who owns the customer relationship?

You do. The fan comes to you, stays with you and follows their bets in your product. The bookmaker holds the betting account, as the law requires, and Funteron connects the two.

Who handles customer support?

On the API route, your team handles everything customer-facing, as it does today. On the widget and managed app routes, Funteron handles betting queries. Questions about a fan's account, money or a bet's settlement go to the bookmaker that holds it.

Which bookmakers are included?

Funteron has more than 60 licensed bookmakers signed, with contracts in 12 territories. In the UK they include bet365, Paddy Power, Betfair, Sky Bet, BoyleSports and William Hill, with Coral and Ladbrokes joining. In each market, every licensed bookmaker Funteron works with sits on the grid on equal terms.

Can we choose which bookmakers appear?

Talk to the team about it. Funteron's default is a neutral grid, because fans trust a fair comparison more than a single brand, and it will discuss any commercial relationships you already have with a bookmaker.

Do you support markets outside the UK?

Yes. Funteron is built to work in any market where betting is regulated, with the bookmakers licensed there, and has bookmaker contracts in 12 territories. A fan sees the prices, offers, currency and bookmakers for their own market, handled in the background. Where betting is not allowed, fans can still follow the sport and make free picks with no prices.

Which sports do you cover?

Football, horse racing, cricket, rugby, motorsport, ice hockey, tennis and golf, with more depending on the market. Funteron can also help a sport design a betting experience around its own format, as the Strata Live demo shows for motorsport.

Do we have to show prices to everyone?

No. Funteron's products are designed to open in Chance mode, which shows how likely things are and lets fans make free picks with no prices at all. Prices appear only when a fan asks for them and confirms they are old enough, which also keeps the editorial experience clean.

Can betting sit beside our editorial content?

Yes, but Funteron keeps the two apart where it matters. Match reports and commentary can stay free of prices, with betting in a clearly labelled module. Each partner decides where betting appears.

What happens to our data?

A fan's details are only shared with a bookmaker when the fan chooses to open or link an account with it. Who holds what, and how it is used, is set out in each partnership agreement.

For sports fans

Answers for anyone using a betting experience powered by Funteron.

Can I place a bet on funteron.com?

No. funteron.com is a company website. Funteron powers betting inside its partners' apps and sites, such as ITV OddsFinder. Every bet is placed with a licensed bookmaker.

Who holds my money?

The licensed bookmaker you bet with. Funteron never holds your money. Deposits, withdrawals and winnings all go through your bookmaker account, under that bookmaker's licence and rules.

Do I need a new account?

Not if you already have one. You can link the bookmaker accounts you already use and see them all in one place. If you want to open a new one, the app helps you do it with as few steps as possible, and the bookmaker runs its own age and identity checks.

Does it cost anything to use?

No. Using an app or site powered by Funteron is free. You only spend money if you choose to place a bet with a bookmaker.

What kinds of bets can I have?

The usual ones, such as who will win, plus new kinds of fun bets for adult fans, designed around each sport with the brand. In motorsport that could be who sets the fastest lap, who makes the most overtakes or how many pit stops there will be. Each bet is designed to be shown in plain words, with what it costs and what comes back.

Why do prices show as "£10 gets back £35"?

Because "What do I get back?" is the question most people actually have. Fractions and decimals are still there if you prefer them, but money is the default. Funteron's aim is a bet so simple you do not need to learn the jargon. Read more on making betting simple, or look up any term in the betting dictionary.

What is Chance mode?

Chance mode is how Funteron's new experiences are designed to open. It shows how likely things are, in plain words, and lets you make free picks for points with no prices or money anywhere. To see prices, you switch to "£ Bet" and confirm you are old enough to bet where you live.

How do I know I am getting the best price?

Funteron compares the prices from every bookmaker on the grid for your market and picks the best one for you. You can still choose a different bookmaker if you prefer.

Where are my free bets?

If you link your bookmaker accounts, the app is designed to bring the free bets and offers you have with them into one place, with the date each one runs out.

Can I set limits?

Yes. Every licensed bookmaker gives you tools such as deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion, and they apply to every bet you place through a Funteron partner. Funteron's product is also designed with its own: a weekly limit offered before your first bet, where raising it takes 24 hours, and a 24-hour break that hides prices and bets. You can try them in the demos.

I am worried about my gambling. Where can I get help?

In the UK, call the National Gambling Helpline free on 0808 8020 133, any time. You can block yourself from every licensed gambling site in Great Britain with GAMSTOP. In the US, call 1-800-GAMBLER.

Are there casino games in the app?

No. Funteron is sport only. The fan stays in the sport and in the partner's brand.

How old do I need to be?

At least 18 in the UK and Ireland, and 21 in most US states. Each bookmaker checks your age and identity before you can bet.

Who do I contact if something goes wrong with a bet?

Questions about your account, your money or how a bet was settled go to the bookmaker you bet with, because it holds them. Questions about the app itself go to the brand you are using, or to Funteron if the app says so.

For bookmakers

How to join the grid and what to expect.

Why should a bookmaker work with Funteron?

Funteron puts you in front of large media and sports audiences, many of them recreational fans who would not have found you on their own. Customers join you directly, under your licence and your checks, and bet with you from inside the partner's brand.

How do bookmakers pay Funteron?

On standard marketing partner terms: commission on the customers who join through Funteron's partners. Funteron does not take bets, so there is no conflict with your trading.

How long does integration take?

Typically two to four weeks once API access is granted. If you do not yet have the APIs Funteron needs, talk to the team about how to connect.

Is the grid neutral?

Yes. Every licensed bookmaker Funteron works with in a market sits on the grid on equal terms, and the fan sees the best price for their bet.

How do customers open accounts?

Customers register with you, and you run your own age, identity and affordability checks. Funteron works with bookmakers on dedicated registration pages that accept the details a fan has already given a partner, so the fan only has to check and confirm them.

Can we be named as a partner?

Yes. Funteron names the bookmakers it works with, and many of them are shown on this website.

How do we get started?

Email info@funteron.com or use the contact form, choosing "A bookmaker", and the team will be in touch.

Safety and regulation

How Funteron keeps a bet on sport a bet on sport.

How does Funteron protect fans?

Every bet is placed with a bookmaker licensed in the fan's market, after its own age, identity and safer gambling checks, and the bookmaker's tools apply today. Funteron designs its products to go further, as the demos show: Chance mode by default, prices only when a fan asks, sport only with no casino, plain words so a fan knows exactly what a bet costs, a weekly limit offered before the first bet and the helpline on every betting screen. Funteron is building its own controls on top of the bookmakers'. More on designing for player protection.

Why is plain language a safety issue?

A fan who does not understand what a bet costs cannot make a sensible decision about it. Showing the total cost and every outcome in money, before a bet goes on, is one of the simplest protections there is. The paper "Algebra in French" sets out the argument.

What stops under-18s using it?

Before any bet, the bookmaker checks the fan's age and identity, and nobody can bet without passing. Funteron's product is also designed so prices only appear after a fan confirms they are old enough, and an under-age answer is final. The look and language are kept grown-up throughout.

Does Funteron offer casino games?

No. There is no casino, only sport. Keith O'Loughlin's paper "A bet on sport should stay a bet on sport" explains why.

Who regulates the betting?

The regulator in each fan's market, through the bookmaker's licence. In Great Britain that is the Gambling Commission.

Does Funteron show advertising to fans?

Funteron's products are designed to show offers from the bookmakers on the grid in one clearly labelled place, each with its catch in one sentence. Funteron makes no misleading claims and never describes a bet as risk-free.

The demos and this website

About the two interactive demos and how this site works.

Are Strata Live and FANtastic TV real?

No. Both are invented brands, made up so Funteron could show the product in public. Everything in them is invented, from the Strata Racing Series, its teams and drivers to the channel, presenters, clubs, horses, prices and results.

Can I place a real bet in the demos?

No. Everything in the demos is simulated. No bookmaker is connected and no money moves. The bookmaker names shown are real, with their agreement, but every price and offer is illustrative.

Why do the demos look different?

They show the same Funteron layer shaped for two very different partners. Strata Live is the fan app of an invented sport, the Strata Racing Series. FANtastic TV is a broadcaster adding betting to the way people already watch.

Can I see a walkthrough?

Yes. Watch the demo video, or book a walkthrough with the team.

Does this website use cookies?

No. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The only exception is the demo video: if you press play, it loads from YouTube, which may store information on your device. See the cookies page.

For investors

The questions investors ask most often.

Is Funteron raising money?

Funteron is talking to investors about its growth. A data room is available to qualified counterparties under NDA. Email info@funteron.com or use the contact form, choosing "An investor". Nothing on this website is an offer of shares or an invitation to invest. See the notice for investors.

How big is the opportunity?

Sport, media and betting are worth hundreds of billions of dollars a year, and all three rest on the same fan. Bookmakers kept $123bn from sports betting worldwide in 2025, with $186bn forecast for 2030 (H2 Gambling Capital). The demand for an easy bet on a big moment is there: two in three people who watched the 2024 Grand National live had a bet on it, sweepstakes included (YouGov). Funteron is built for those fans, inside the brands they already follow.

Why now?

Media pays more for sport every year and needs more back from each fan than advertising can give. Betting has grown by adding more markets rather than by making a bet easier. And regulators want protection they can see. Funteron answers all three: betting inside the sport, simple enough for any adult fan, with protection designed in.

Why can't a bookmaker do this itself?

A bookmaker can only offer its own prices, and it has to win each fan for itself. A media brand or sport wants every licensed bookmaker competing for its fans, without handing the relationship to one of them. Funteron is neutral by design: it sets no odds, holds no funds and accepts no bets, so every bookmaker can join.

Is this just an affiliate business?

Paid like a marketing partner. Built like infrastructure. Funteron is paid through bookmaker commission, as an affiliate is, but the product is very different. Fans do not click away to a bookmaker. They use the partner's app as if it were their own betting app, and their bets are placed with the bookmaker from inside it. That is what lets very large media and sports audiences take part.

What has Funteron built so far?

A platform with more than £10m invested in it, more than 60 licensed bookmakers signed with contracts in 12 territories, a live product with ITV in the UK and further partnerships agreed with media brands and sports.
