What happens to a bet in a dead heat?
Two horses finish exactly level. Winning bets are paid at half the stake at full odds.
In practice
Example: £10 at 6/1 on a horse that dead heats for first with one other. Half your stake, £5, is paid at 6/1, returning £35, and the other half is lost. With three horses in the dead heat, a third of the stake is paid.
The Funteron way: fans should not need to know any of this to have a bet. Funteron is designed to show every bet in plain words and in money: what it costs, what comes back if it wins and what you lose if it does not.
