What is an each way bet?

Two bets of the same stake: one to win and one to place. £10 each way costs £20. If it wins, both pay. If it only places, the place part pays at a fraction of the price.

In practice

Example: £10 each way at 10/1, with terms of a fifth the odds for three places, costs £20. If the horse wins, the win part returns £110 and the place part pays at 2/1, returning £30, so £140 comes back in total. If it only finishes second or third, the place part returns £30 and the win part is lost.

The Funteron way: fans should not need to know any of this to have a bet. Funteron is designed to show every bet in plain words and in money: what it costs, what comes back if it wins and what you lose if it does not.
